World Day Against Child Labor

The theme of the World Day Against Child Labor 2016 focuses on the eradication of child labor in production chains, which are the set of activities or processes involved in the manufacture and distribution of a product.
In this section you can learn more about the subject and download various informational materials.

Currently, there are 168 million children and adolescents who are in a situation of child labor, and all production chains, from agriculture to manufacturing, including the construction sector, are at risk of labor child is present in them.

Much of child labor is found in the rural and informal economy and in areas where labor inspectors have no access. This is also valid for child labor in production chains where the work can be carried out in small workshops or in private homes and, in this way, go unnoticed by companies at the top of the chain and other actors. For this reason, this year's campaign calls for the attention and commitment of governments, employers 'and workers' organizations, as well as that of companies themselves and society in general to prevent and eliminate the use of labor children in production chains.
