“Expert voices” to advance towards Target 8.7 of the SDGs

Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean free of child labor offers live streaming.
Starting next April 25, a series of four live sessions against child labor will begin, an experience promoted by the Regional Initiative, through its Facebook network Latin American Network against Child Labor (RedLacti), which seeks to expand the knowledge on key issues related to the prevention and eradication of child labor.
The first guest to “Expert Voices” is Ernesto Rodríguez, Director of the Latin American Center on Youth, who will speak on how to improve the school-work transition and face the challenge of permitted adolescent work. This theme is related to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work (April 28), whose campaign is linked to the World Day against Child Labor (June 12) under the slogan “Safe and healthy generation” .
This first session will be broadcast on April 25 at 9:00 am (GMT-5) from the RedLacti fanpage ( Enter here ) . The public will be able to interact with the exhibitor through questions and live comments. In addition, the virtual presentation will remain available and our followers will have the opportunity to continue sending questions until May 2 , which will be resolved in the following days by the speaker and disseminated on the platform.

It is important to bear in mind that the transmissions on Facebook Live can be followed even if there is no user on this social network; however, to interact with the speakers and leave live messages, you need to log in to Facebook.
It should also be noted that, as additional resource in each session will be made available to the public one pape r prepared by each expert through the virtual library of the Regional Initiative .
The four papers selected for the live sessions were originally presented in November 2017 at the “Spain-Americas Forum: The role of civil society in the sustained eradication of child labor and the protection of adolescent workers” ; These transmissions are intended to reach a wider audience that can take advantage of the information and contribute their knowledge and experience.
In this way, the Regional Initiative is committed to enriching the debate and encouraging research, the exchange of experiences and good practices that lead the region to design and implement more and better responses to end child labor in 2025 and achieve not only Target 8.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals, but also the national goals to which the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean have committed.
