Responsible actors for the prevention and elimination of child labour in Trinidad and Tobago strengthened their capacities to communicate with children and adolescents in situations and at risk of child labour.

Port of Spain - The labour inspection is one of the main axes in the prevention and elimination of child labour. For this reason, in Trinidad and Tobago, 45 officials took part in a training workshop on the psycho-social and legal considerations involved in communicating with children and teenagers, who may be suspected or actual victims of child labour or its worst forms.

The sessions, which took place from November 29 to December 1, were attended by officials from the Ministry of Labour, Occupational Safety and Health Authority and Agency (OSHA), Counter Trafficking Unit (CTU) and Children’s Authority (CA).

The workshop was organized by the Technical Secretariat of the Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labour, at the ILO Office for Caribbean, and had the support of the Ministry of Labour and CA.
