The Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labour designs its Action Plan 2022-2025, emphasising the optimisation of public policies, priority sectors to put an end to this reality, the strengthening of strategic alliances and the monitoring of target 8.7, which calls for an end to child labour by 2025.
Lima - There are only 28 months left to achieve SDG target 8.7, which calls for the elimination of child labour in all its forms. In this context, the Technical Secretariat of the Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labour held an intense day of planning to finalize its Action Plan 2022-2025 with a view to fulfilling the global commitment to eliminate child labour.
To achieve this, the focus will be on optimising public policies that address child labour, emphasising priority sectors that contribute to minimising this reality (education and training for employment, supply chain, migration, and decent work and productive development). In addition, priority will be given to strengthening strategic alliances and comprehensive monitoring of compliance with the indicators related to child labour in target 8.7, established in the 2030 Agenda. The working meeting was held at the ILO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean from 18 to 22 July.
*The Regional Initiative Latin America and Caribbean Free of Child Labour is a platform driven by 30 countries in the region (governments, employers' organisations and workers' organisations), with the support of the ILO, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Andalusian Agency for International Development Cooperation (AACID) and the United States Department of Labor (USDOL). Learn more about the model it offers to end child labour.
